Kindness in the Classroom

On Friday, May 19, my students had to shelter in place due to our proximity to Santa Fe High School.  It was a pretty scary situation but thankfully, the shelter in place was lifted at 9:30 and we were able to continue with our day.

The weekend brought on prayer vigils and thoughts and prayers being said over our schools and the victims from Santa Fe, a neighboring town from ours.  I wasn’t sure what I should say to my kids or if they would even want to talk about it.  When we had class on Monday, no one really said anything about it.

Today, I decided to just let them write kind things to each other on a kindness poster.  It seemed perfect since it is the last week of school and the memories are flowing.  I really enjoyed seeing the different compliments that my students came up with.
